How did these prophets Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them) pray?

How did these prophets Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them) pray?

Once Sheikh: Ahmad Deedat, the great Muslim scholar, visited Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and narrated one of his experiences of life.

He said once he happened to take a group of Christians & Jews to visit a mosque in Durban, South Africa. When they entered the mosque Deedat not only took off his shoes but requested the group also to follow him so all of them took off their shoes.

Then Deedat asked the group if they knew the reason behind taking off their shoes. They replied, "No." Deedat explained, when Moses was on Mount Sinai, God spoke to him:

God said, "Don't come any closer! Take off your sandals because this place where you are standing is holy ground". (Exodus 3:5)

While the group sat on the bench and watched, Deedat excused himself to perform the ablution. After the ablution, he again went to the group and explained. This is not only highly hygienic as it is performed 5 times a day, it also has a historical reference. He again quoted:

Moses, Aaron, and his sons used this water to wash their hands and feet. They would wash whenever they went into the tent of meeting or whenever they approached the altar. Moses followed the LORD's instructions. (Exodus 40:31-32)

After the obligatory prayers Deedat again went to the group who were now busy observing other Muslims perform their non-obligatory prayer. He explained the various postures of the prayer, the most intriguing being the prostration. Deedat said, pointing at the prostrations, this is how all the prophets prayed. He further authenticated his statement and quoted:

Immediately, Abram bowed with his face touching the ground, and again God spoke to him, (Genesis 17:3)

Immediately, Abraham bowed with his face touching the ground…  (Genesis 17:17)

Moses and Aaron went from the assembly to the entrance of the tent of meeting. Immediately, they bowed with their faces touching the ground, and the glory of the LORD appeared to them. (Numbers 20:6)

And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and did worship...
(Joshua 5:14)

And he (Jesus) went a little further, and fell on his face, and did worship...
(Matthew 26:39)

Deedat told the group that they know the ways of worship of Christians and Jews very well and they have now observed the Muslim way of worship also.

Dedaat politely asked the group whose ways of worship are more Christian? The group of Christians & the Jews were unanimous in saying, "Certainly the Muslim way of worship is more Christian than others."

Many Christians who revert to Islam today testify that they are now better "Christians" for doing so. The word "Christian" simply means "a follower of Christ" or "Christ-ian".

So how are these people who are now professing Muslims claiming to be closer follower's of Jesus?.

Let's think about this logically by examining what the Bible says of Jesus. For example, if we read the gospels we will see accounts of Jesus where he prayed with his face to the ground, greeted his fellow believers with expressions of peace, and fasted for lengthy amounts of time.

Indeed many former Christians acknowledge that they were Muslims in every sense of the word before discovering the confirmation of their natural beliefs within the text of the Noble Qur'an revealed to the final prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

"O you who believe! Bow down and prostrate yourselves and serve your Lord, and do good that you may prosper."(The Noble QUR'AN 22:77)

You see mankind's disposition of monotheism is inseparable from the human nature.

Today some people who claim to follow the way of Jesus, Abraham, and Moses (peace be upon them) have deviated from the path. And in the case of Christianity, people have mistakenly created an entire faith about the Prophet Jesus and thus have made him into something that he never claimed to be.

Now honestly ask yourself, who truly follows Jesus' example today? As you may know, Muslims pray humbly with their forehead touching the ground at least five times a day.

Muslims follow the Religion of Jesus; the faith that he spoke of and practiced. Likewise, Muslims worship the same God that Jesus worshipped; the same God of Abraham, Moses and Muhammad peace be upon them.

Also, Muslims always greet each other with the phrase "Peace be upon you" and further more just as Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness Muslims fast for an entire month during the month of Ramadan.

Finally let us humble ourselves and pray like all these prophets, and you are most welcome to download the Prayers (Salaah) book from our site: www.islamic-invitation.com
