Why Are Honeycombs Hexagonal?

Have you ever wondered why bees make their honeycombs in the form of hexagons?

Why do they build them as hexagons instead of pentagons, quadrangles, octagons, triangles or circles?

If the cells were of a shape except hexagon like triangular or quadrilateral, there would be regions that could not be used among other shapes; thus, the bees would store less honey and they would have to spend more wax to fill the spaces.

In fact, honey could have been stored in circles, rectangles and triangles as well.

However, among these shapes, the one with the shortest circumference is the hexagon.

Although hexagons have the same volume as the others, the wax used to make hexagonal cells is less than that used for triangles or quadrangles.

There are gaps among the cells when they are in the form of circles.

That is, the maximum honey can be stored in the hexagonal honeycomb with the least material.

How did these little bees get the information that an engineer could have only after detailed calculations?

It is seen that the bees are not only great theoreticians but also skillful practitioners.

In theory, they calculate what is very difficult to calculate, and in practice, they manage to achieve precise measurements that we cannot determine with our hands and eyes.

How do the bees, whose lifespans are only 6 weeks, achieve all these calculations and construction work?

While the smartest human being cannot even count up to three by saying “1, 2, 3” in six weeks, is it possible to say that the bee does all this on its own?

To call this mere “instinct” and to show those wonderful deeds as coincidence is very bad.

The word "instinct" is no more than a name and a term that does not explain anything.

A logical answer to the question of how these instincts emerged has not been given by evolutionists yet.

The Quran says that the bee receives revelation and that whatever the bee does is based on Allah’s programming and arrangement.

Causes are extremely weak, ignorant and worthless but the result is very artistic and precious; therefore, causes cannot influence anything.

In other words, these little bees declare in their language that they cannot create these results.

And they attribute all these wonderful works to a wise artist behind the scenes.

That these tiny insects do things well beyond their power despite their smallness and helplessness proves that the one that does those deeds behind these scenes is Allah, who has infinite knowledge and power.
